Commercial relationships
Ownership, commissions, affiliate income, referral fees, sponsorships, paid endorsements, or other financial benefits connected to a product or service discussed in class.
Human Restoration Institute™ requires instructors, course developers, and others acting on behalf of HRI to identify and disclose actual or potential conflicts of interest that are relevant to a course. Any related financial gain or material relationship that could reasonably affect professional judgment will be disclosed to potential learners before registration.
Disclosure standard
Course-specific conflict-of-interest information will be presented clearly enough for a learner to make an informed registration decision. When no relevant conflict exists, HRI may state that there is no relevant financial or commercial relationship to disclose.
01 · Purpose
Education should be driven by learning objectives, not hidden influence.
HRI course content, demonstrations, required materials, product references, technology recommendations, and instructional decisions are expected to serve the stated educational objectives of the course. A relationship is not automatically prohibited simply because a financial or professional connection exists. It must, however, be disclosed when it could reasonably create the appearance or possibility of bias.
02 · What Counts as a Conflict
Actual, potential, and perceived conflicts are treated seriously.
A conflict of interest is a circumstance in which an instructor, course developer, evaluator, administrator, or HRI representative has another interest or relationship that could influence, or reasonably appear to influence, professional judgment related to a course or learner.
Required or recommended purchases
A financial interest in equipment, software, books, supplies, courses, or other resources that an instructor requires or recommends to learners.
Business or organizational interests
Business ownership, consulting work, employment, partnerships, licensing arrangements, or organizational roles that are directly relevant to material presented in the course.
Relationships affecting decisions
Personal, family, supervisory, or other relationships that could improperly influence grading, course completion decisions, grievance review, purchasing, or access to educational opportunities.
03 · Disclosure Before Registration
Relevant conflicts and related financial gain are disclosed before the learner enrolls.
When a course has a relevant actual or potential conflict of interest, HRI will disclose the nature of that relationship in course information available before registration. The disclosure will identify the type of relationship and any related financial gain that is relevant to the learner's decision.
Course-specific disclosures may appear on the course page, registration page, written course information, or another pre-registration document provided to the learner.
The ordinary tuition or registration income HRI receives for providing a course is not treated
as a separate conflict-of-interest disclosure. Additional financial or commercial relationships
that could influence educational judgment are the relationships addressed by this policy.
04 · How Conflicts Are Managed
Disclosure is the minimum. HRI also separates conflicted interests from educational decisions when needed.
- Instructional recommendations must be tied to course objectives, professional reasoning, evidence, or clearly identified instructor experience rather than undisclosed commercial benefit.
- Course completion, attendance verification, grading, and CE credit may not be influenced by a learner's decision to purchase an optional product or service.
- An instructor or administrator with a material personal interest in a grievance, appeal, or learner dispute may be removed from the decision-making role when an impartial review is needed.
- Required materials that create financial benefit for an instructor or HRI will be identified before registration and described as required, optional, or included in tuition.
- Sponsored content, demonstrations, affiliate relationships, referral arrangements, or vendor-supported materials will be identified when they are relevant to the course.
- HRI may modify a course-specific disclosure when a new relationship arises or when the general policy does not fully describe the circumstances of that course.
05 · Instructor Responsibility
Instructors must disclose relevant relationships to HRI before teaching.
Instructors and course developers are responsible for informing HRI of known actual or potential conflicts that relate to the content they teach. HRI may request clarification or additional disclosure before publishing or presenting a course.
If a relevant conflict develops after registration has opened, HRI will make a reasonable effort to update the course disclosure and inform affected learners before the course begins.
06 · Learner Rights
Learners may ask about financial relationships without penalty.
Learners may request clarification about a disclosed relationship, a required product, or a commercial interest connected to course content. Declining to purchase an optional product or service will not affect attendance status, grading, course completion, or the award of CE credit.
A learner who believes a conflict has not been appropriately disclosed or managed may use the HRI grievance process.
07 · Course-Specific Policies
A specific course disclosure controls when it provides more detail.
This is HRI's general provider policy. A course or session may include a more specific conflict-of-interest disclosure when the subject matter, instructor, sponsor, required materials, or financial relationships warrant additional detail. The more specific disclosure will apply to that course or session.
